Commercial Waste Pickup
Trash, Recycling, & Organics
Glendale’s franchise system for commercial solid waste collection services includes a number of new and expanded programs to increase recycling of dry and organic material, and sets bulky item collection limits for multi-family (5+ unit) buildings. Donations, sales, and temporary roll-off services are not affected by the new franchise system.
3-Container Solid Waste Collection
ALL commercial and multi-family (5+ units) accounts are set up with the following standard minimum service:
- One (1) BLUE-lid container for dry recyclables;
- One (1) GREEN-lid container for mixed organics; and
- One (1) BLACK-lid container for trash (non-organic and non-recyclable items).
Some businesses and multi-family properties may be exempt from State and City recycling or organics collection service requirements. Allowable exemptions include lack of space, the customer generates a minimal amount of recyclable or organic material, or self-hauls material to a recycling center. To request an exemption from the City, contact [email protected] or click here.
We will be monitoring usage of all containers and will tag your container(s) if they are being used improperly. See our page on Warning Notices for more information. If the container(s) continue to be contaminated, we will meet with you to “right-size” your service with the correct container types and frequencies. Be a good steward for the environment by recycling the right way!

Or…the City of Glendale has partnered with RecycleCoach to develop a searchable database. The City also has prepared a toolkit for multi-family property managers. Get it here.
Waste Resources bills commercial customers monthly in advance, so you will receive an invoice at the beginning of the month for that month’s service. To make a payment online, click here.
Not sure where to start? We do! Contact our office to schedule an on-site evaluation to determine the best level of service for your needs that will maximize recycling and be the most cost-effective.
