The next phase of the franchised services rollout for Glendale continues in late March with the delivery of a recycling cart and/or mixed organics cart.
Businesses and 5+ multi-family dwellings will receive one 96 gallon cart for dry recyclables such as bottles, cans, paper, and cardboard. Need more detail on what goes in your blue container? Up-to-date lists are always available on our SB1383 page.
Businesses and 5+ multi-family dwellings with at least 2 cubic yards/week of total service will receive one 64-gallon cart for mixed organics such as leaves, grass, flowers, food scraps, and food-soiled paper. Need more detail on what goes in your green container? Up-to-date lists are always available on our SB1383 page.
Carts will be delivered in late March, with collection services beginning April 1, 2022.
The rollout of these mandatory services are part of Glendale’s new franchise system for solid waste collection services and are required by State and local law. Mandatory commercial recycling has been state law since 2012 and mandatory commercial organics recycling has been state law since 2017. Municipal Code Section 8.44.080 (Ord. 5967 § 2, 2021; Ord. 5961 § 2, 2021) requires all generators to comply with the mandatory collection services.
The City is hosting a webinar on Tuesday, March 1 at 11:00am to provide customers with additional information about the services and changes related to the new regulations. For more information and to register, visit https://GlendaleWebinar.eventbrite.com.
