Glendale’s Last Two Compost Giveaways for 2023

The City of Glendale hosts free compost giveaway events throughout the year for its residents. I The last two will be October 7 and November 4.  All events are at the Lot 30 Parking Lot at 1255 N. Verdugo Rd from 8am-12pm, rain permitting. More information is available on the City’s page.

Semi-Annual Cleanup Starts in Gardena on Sept. 23

LYNWOOD residents – bring your over-sized and bulky waste for disposal – FREE of charge – on Saturday, September 16 from 8am-2pm at the corner of Bellinger and Butler.  A valid photo ID and current copy of WR trash bill are required to participate. Acceptable Items – furniture, appliances, yard waste, fluorescent light tubes and bulbs, televisions, computers, other electronics, wood waste, and single items that can be handled safely by two people. Rate Increases set for July 1

ALL CUSTOMERS:  Per the terms of our Franchise Agreements with the cities of Carson, Gardena, Glendale, Hawaiian Gardens, and Lynwood, WR is permitted to adjust customer rates by certain metrics and indexes, effective July 1 of each year.  Based on these metrics, WR’s customers will be seeing new rates effective July 1, 2023. Workshop for Gardena Residents Added

Waste Resources, with the City of Gardena, will be hosting another workshop for residents to discuss the state’s new-ish recycling requirements.  Since Jan. 1, 2022, all residents, businesses, and multi-family properties are required to recycle organics and dry material.  WR’s three-container system makes compliance easy.  Learn how to take advantage of your containers and help the City comply with state mandates. Carson Senior Sign Ups – 2023-24 Edition

The enrollment period for Carson’s senior discount will start on April 17, 2023. Because trash is charged on the property tax bill, you must participate in this annual enrollment process in order to receive the discount. Renewals must be postmarked by May 15, 2023. New applications must be postmarked by May 31, 2023.  Any renewals/applications postmarked after these dates may not be accepted for the 2023-24 tax year.
