To meet the requirements of new California regulations (SB 1383), customers in Lynwood will start seeing improvements to recycling programs over the next year.
The first, and most visible, improvement is the addition of carts for the separation of dry recyclables such as clean paper, bottles and cans, glass, and some metals. Under SB 1383, customer participation in this program is MANDATORY. Waste Resources, the City’s exclusive waste hauler, will start distributing these carts with blue lids on Monday, June 13, 2022, but services start July 1, 2022. The carts will include a hanger that details what materials go in which cart.
Also starting on July 1 is the MANDATORY separation of food scraps and food-soiled paper away from the trash cart and into the green cart. Information about this change is included on the hanger, but more detail can be found on our SB1383 page.
At this time, there will no changes to residential collection days.
