FOR GARDENA RESIDENTS ONLYRecycle your confidential documents safely and conveniently at Gardena’s upcoming paper shredding event. When: Saturday, April 29, 2023; 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Where:  City Hall Complex; 1700W. 162nd Street All paper will be shredded onsite. Shredding may end before 12:00 p.m. if paper capacity is reached early. Proof of Gardena residency required.NO commercial or business waste will be accepted.Limit five (5) file/paper boxes (12″ x 16″ x 10″)  per resident for shredding.

Three Opportunities for Gardena’s Commercial Customers to Learn About Organics Recycling

Waste Resources, along with the Gardena Valley Chamber of Commerce, will be hosting three workshops for businesses and multi-family managers/owners to discuss the state’s new-ish recycling requirements.  Since Jan. 1, 2022, all residents, businesses, and multi-family properties are required to recycle organics and dry material.  WR’s three-container system makes compliance easy.  Plus, dry recycling service is available at no additional cost. Dates Set for First Bulky Item Collection Event of 2023 For Gardena Residents

2022-23 Holiday Tree Recycling Dates Set

We make it easy for all residents to recycle their tree.- Place your tree curbside the same day as your regular service. For multi-family with bin service, trees can be left in the enclosure area.- Remove all decorations (ornaments, tinsel, etc.) and metal or plastic plant stands (wooden tree stands may be left on the tree). Recycling and Mixed Organics Recycling Expands in Gardena and Hawaiian Gardens

Waste Resources continues to roll out programs to meet the requirements of new California regulations (SB 1383) with the addition of recycling and mixed organics recycling carts for all commercial customers in Gardena and Hawaiian Gardens.  Commercial customers include multi-family complexes (5+ units) and businesses with bin or regular roll-off service.  Under SB 1383, customer participation in this program is MANDATORY.  Waste Resources, both City’s exclusive waste hauler, will start distributing carts with blue lids (for dry recyclables such as clean paper, bottles and cans, glass, and some metals) and carts with green lids (for mixed organics such as food

Residential Food Scraps Recycling Starts in Gardena on July 1, 2022

Waste Resources, the City of Gardena’s franchised solid waste hauler, is continuing the rollout of mandatory organics recycling by announcing the start of residential mixed organics recycling on July 1, 2022. This improvement to the city’s overall residential recycling program is a result of statewide regulations that went into effect January 1, 2022 and are slowly rolling out across California.  These wide-reaching regulations set statewide targets to reduce organic waste disposal and increase edible food recovery to serve the food insecure.
